There are two distinct problems often encountered by hotels:

1. Stained bathtub bottoms:
Hotel bathrooms appear to be very clean. Upon closer inspection of the bathtub bottom, there is staining in the factory non skid, while the rest of the tub is spotless. The housekeeping staff is not at fault for this problem!
 
What actually happens is build up from the tub cleaners are deposited in the micro-etching of the factory non skid surface. When a guest showers, dirt and oil leave the body and then stain the cleaners built up in the factory non skid. This is very hard to get clean.

 
2. Non skid has worn off and the tub is no longer safe.
Daily cleaning eventually wears off non skid. Hotels must meet or exceed ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) F-462 which states that the coefficient of friction must be no less than .04. If the guest injures themselves and the bathtub does not meet this legal standard, the lawsuit potential can be higher.
