1

STEP-2

CHOOSE THE RIGHT MAT

Select a mat that will cover the majority of the tub bottom

ASTM Standard state that there should not be enough space at the edge of the mat for a foot to slip. Most tubs require a 18" X  48" Drain Wrap Restorer mat to cover the majority of the tub bottom when restoring a tub.

7

PLACE THE MAT EVENLY IN THE CENTER OF THE TUB BOTTOM

IMPORTANT:  Stand up and look down into the tub to insure the mat is evenly spaced from all edges and fits around the drain evenly.

8

PLACE THREE PIECES OF MASKING TAPE ON THE MAT IS INDICATED IN THE VIDEO

The tape will hold the mat in place after it is perfectly centered.

9

CAREFULLY LIFT THE LOOSE END OF THE MAT

PEEL BACK BACK APPROXIMATELY 2 INCHES OF THE PAPER BACKING AND FOLD IT BACK FLAT AGAINST THE BACK OF THE MAT.

CAUTION: Avoid touching the adhesive side of the mat. The adhesive will pick up oil from your fingers, this could cause failure later.

Carefully lay the mat in place and place your hand on the mat and move it toward the loose end pressing the adhesive into the tubs surface. Move hand back and fourth until all exposed adhesive it in contact with tub.

REMOVE THE MASKING TAPE

LIFT THE LOOSE END OF MAT

AND ROLL TOWARD OPPOSITE END OF TUB

  1. Hold rolled up mat with one hand, with other hand grasp the loose end of the paper backing between the the mat and the tub bottom.

  2. Pull ONLY 1 or 2 inches of the paper off the mat at one time.

  3. As you pull the paper backing away fro the mat, move your other hand back and fourth on top of the mat to press it against the tub. This insures adhesion and prevents air bubbles from forming.

  4. As soon as there is enough room to start using the brayer it should be used to start pressing the mat in place.

  5. After sticking down approximately 6 inches of mat. Place the T-5 Detector on mat with light on section that is stuck to tub. Turn off bathroom light.

  6. Move the T-5 light back and fourth looking for air bubbles. If there are bubbles pull the mat loose just enough to work out the bubble with brayer.

  7. As you pull the paper back use the NON Marking brayer to press forcefully against the mat. Roll it back and fourth to insure there are NO air bubbles forming as you move along.

  8. Intermittedly turn off bath room light and check the mat with the T-5 for bubbles.

The T-5 Detector will highlight even the smallest of any air bubbles. If you see an air bubble stop and gently pull the mat back just far enough to work the bubble out with the brayer. If you detect an air bubble after you have completed the installation, prick the bubble with a small, sewing needle and roll the air out with the brayer.

12

CONTINUE TO PULL PAPER BACKING FROM MAT

Very slowly pull away paper backing and continue to apply pressure to the brayer to insure a contact with adhesive and tub bottom. Continually roll the brayer back and fourth to prevent air bubbles.

After all paper is removed continue to roll the entire mat with brayer, give all edges extra attention and pressure.

If installed properly the mat can give many years of reliable service!
